The Daughters of the American Revolution want to repair pillars commemorating the sacrifices of Colorado's World War I soldiers, located at US 287 and Arapahoe Road.

There are several presentations in Boulder County coming up regarding the preservation of the pillars:

• The Lafayette Historical Society is hosting an in-person event on Sunday, March 13, entitled “The Road to Remembrance: History of 9 Mile Corner,” led by Gerry Morrell. The event will be at 1:30 pm on the lower level of the Lafayette Public Library.
• The Boulder County Historical Society is hosting a similar event tentatively titled “The Pillars at Nine Mile Corner: Their History and Future,” on Thursday evening, March 31 at the Museum of Boulder. I will be leading that event that will focus on the history of the Gateway, and the background to the current situation. This program will be both in-person and virtual; details to follow.
• The first public forum on the future of the pillars will be held in early April at the YMCA of Northern Colorado in Lafayette (about a mile west of the Monument). At that time, various alternatives for preservation will be presented and discussed, and public input will be solicited. Again, this program will be both in-person and virtual, with the format to be developed over the next couple of weeks. An effort to preserve historic stone pillars between Lafayette and Erie
